A pregnant woman suffered a miscarriage after being kicked in the stomach during a robbery in east London, police said.

The victim, in her 30s, was on the phone with her mother at a bus stop when a man on a white bicycle headed toward her from the Green Man roundabout in Wanstead.

The assailant kicked him in the abdomen and snatched his £ 300 iPhone X from his hand.

He then sped from Cambridge Park to Wanstead Tube Station between 2.30pm and 3pm on July 29.

At the time, the victim was nine weeks pregnant. She suffered a miscarriage shortly thereafter.

Detectives investigating the incident have launched an e-fit.

The suspect is described as a mestizo, in his 30s and robustly built with tattoos covering his left arm. He was wearing dark blue shorts, a dark blue baseball cap, and a white bag.

His bike was white and had no rear fender.

Detective James Pepperell said: “This is a particularly sad case that has had life-changing consequences for the victim.

“It goes without saying that this has caused a great deal of anguish and pain to the victim and her family.

“I am eager to hear from someone who can help in identifying this e-fit. If you are the responsible person, do the right thing and introduce yourself.

“I know it’s been a while since this incident, but I would ask anyone who witnessed this or seen the man on the bike after the theft occurred to get in touch.

“No matter how insignificant you may think your information may be the missing piece in our investigation.”

Anyone who recognizes the person in the picture or has information can call the police at 101, quoting CAD 4366 / July 29, 2020, or Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555111.
