Police urgently search for escaped Hollesley Bay prisoner

UPDATE: The 48-year-old prisoner who fled Hollesley Bay was arrested.

Scott Chandler had been missing since last night, Friday, May 8, but was arrested this morning, Saturday, May 9, by agents in Woodbridge.

He was taken to the Martlesham Police Investigation Center, from where he will be returned to the prison system.

Suffolk Police wish to thank members of the public and the media for their help with this appeal.

Police are urgently searching for a fugitive inmate from Hollesley Bay Prison in Suffolk.

Scott Chandler, 48, is serving time for a crime of threats of murder in prison.

Police say Chandler has links in neighboring Cambridgeshire counties, specifically Ipswich, Lowestoft and Dereham in Norfolk.

Chandler reportedly went missing last night (Friday, May 8) after failing to attend a list.

The prisoner is described as white, 5 ft 2 in. Tall, slim build, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He also has tattoos on his neck and left arm.

Anyone who believes they have seen Chandler or who has information about his whereabouts should call Suffolk police at 101, citing the CAD reference of May 8, 2020.

Hollesley Bay is a prison and juvenile offender institution for men over the age of 18 in Woodbridge, Suffolk.
