A specialized police dive team has been called to the Port of Liverpool to search for weapons in response to the new intelligence.
The dramatic scenes saw Merseyside police officers and a team of underwater experts descend on Princes Dock on Wednesday morning.
Footage from ECHO’s Andrew Teebay shows a diver searching the water while other officers went into the water in a search boat.

A vehicle from the Northwest Police Submarine Search and Unit, a collaboration between Northwest Police Forces, could also be seen parked at Princes Parade while the search was being conducted.
Today, Merseyside Police confirmed that the operation was in response to new intelligence in their fight against firearm crimes and that officers were searching for weapons.
A spokesperson said: “Today, Wednesday February 3, we are conducting searches as part of our ongoing investigations into gun crime in Merseyside.
“Officers are currently at Princes Dock in Liverpool city center with colleagues from the Northern Submarine Search Team and are responding to intelligence regarding the use and storage of weapons as part of our commitment to recall weapons. of our streets “.
