Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan was super confused as he and co-host Susanna Reid opened the show on Wednesday morning.
The host revealed that he had been told that GMB was “hanging by a thread” seconds after they aired.
As hosts and co-star Ranvir Singh laughed at the comments, Piers questioned whether the ITV series was “being canceled.”
Piers soon explained that the comments were heard in his ear, behind the scenes.
After welcoming viewers to the show, he quickly said that he had heard the voice of the show’s director suddenly shouting things in his ear, including the comment about the show.
He and Susanna soon hoped that a technical problem had occurred that they hadn’t noticed.
By asking them to reveal to viewers what had happened, they never found out what supposedly went wrong.
When the third show of the week began on Wednesday, Piers alerted viewers to what was going on in his ear.
Piers commented: “Just to put what comes to our ears in context.
“You are probably imagining at home that it is calm and quiet and there is not much to do … it is a constant stream of consciousness from our director, who is emotionally erratic.
Susanna seemed confused before adding, “Well, I think the phrase is borderline.
Piers then explained, “He literally, just as we were about to air, we all heard the words ‘this show is hanging by a thread!’
“What? What do you mean if it is canceled? What do you mean? It will be some kind of glitch that no one else would have detected.”
Susanna and Piers then asked the director to speak to viewers to explain what had apparently gone wrong, but he praised the stars and kept the news to himself.
Good Morning Britain airs Monday through Friday at 6am on ITV.
