Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has sent a strong message to William Saliba and his Arsenal teammates to “be patient” about their future at the club.
The 19-year-old is growing uneasy about his lack of opportunities at Arsenal following his £ 27 million transfer.
Mikel Arteta has so far refused to choose Saliba on any of his teams, insisting instead that the center-back needs a “transition year” on loan.
The January transfer window offers an ideal opportunity for the Gunners to send Saliba out on loan, but the Frenchman is already unhappy with his situation at the club.
Now Gunners captain Aubameyang has sent a clear message to Saliba and any other emerging talent on how to behave.
“When you are a young player trying to succeed at a club like Arsenal, there is sure a lot of pressure,” said Aubameyang. AFP via France24 .
“You have to be patient also because we have great players who are playing in the first team, so it is always difficult to break through.
“I remember when I played for AC Milan (2008-11) it was always very, very difficult to get into the first team, so I know that kind of feeling.”
Saliba admitted to exiled Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, who is now on loan at Hertha Berlin, that he felt “locked in” at Arsenal in a similar way to how his former teammate did.
Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have been deprived of title glory for a while, but things could be turning around as a new Arsenal team chart a course for success.

Other youngsters in Arteta’s ranks are also starting to kick in the heels, including Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun.
Concerns about playing time is the only reason behind Balogun’s reluctance so far to agree to a new contract, with only six months to execute his current contract.
But Aubameyang has no doubts about the best place for these academy stars to learn their trade and bide their time.
“With the Europa League this season, there have been perhaps more opportunities for youngsters to get minutes,” he said.

“We saw some young players in our last European game and we also have them training quite a bit lately.
“For them it is not easy, but when you have the opportunity you have to take advantage of it and I think they are doing well when they have had the opportunity so far.
“You can see the young guys always perform when they come in because the coaches are doing a great job with them getting them ready for the games.
“The rest is up to them.”
