China closed a northern city and launched city-wide coronavirus tests in another, following two local infections involving workers in a port and a commercial area, respectively, authorities said.
There was a new case in Dongning and Suifenhe, both on the country’s border with Russia.
In Dongning, a 40-year-old maintenance worker at a port tested positive on Thursday, prompting the latest measures.
Authorities said Saturday that it would enter “wartime mode,” temporarily suspending public bus services and road transport, while requiring anyone leaving the city to submit a negative Covid-19 test out of 24. previous hours.
Schools will suspend classes and dining in restaurants will be prohibited, while in higher risk areas, only one member of each household will be allowed to leave the house once every two days to buy daily necessities, for no more than two hours every time. .
In Suifenhe’s case, a 39-year-old man who works as a loading and unloading worker in a commercial area tested positive.
Both cities announced on Friday the launch of citywide tests, which are expected to be completed in three days.
