Pelle Alsing, known for being Roxette’s drummer, has passed away.
The Swedish band confirmed the sad news on their official Twitter account, but did not reveal the actual cause of Pelle’s death.
Per Gessle, who was one half of the Roxette band along with the late Marie Fredriksson, broke the news.
He posted a photo of Pelle smiling and tossing a peace sign with many Roxette laces around his neck.
Per called Pelle “the best friend you can imagine” and said “they would really miss him a lot more than words can say.”
He tweeted: “It is with sadness that I inform you that our beloved Pelle Alsing has passed away.
“P was not only an amazing and inventive drummer who helped us create the Rox sound from day 1, he was also the best friend you can imagine, a kind and generous man with the biggest heart that beats for everyone.”
He continued in another tweet: “He was always the funniest, the one with the biggest smile on his face, the one who supported you the most when you had doubts.
“We will truly miss him far more than words can say.
“All my love is with his wife, family and friends.”
Pelle appeared on several of Roxette’s albums and live shows from the 1980s to the 2010s.
He also played with musicians Niklas Strömstedt, Lisa Nilsson and Ulf Lundell and was in the Ratata band.
Pelle’s death comes a year after Roxette member Marie Fredriksson died at 61 after a long illness.
Roxette was known for her hits It Must Have Been Love, Joyride, Listen To Your Heart, and The Look.
The pop duo was huge in their time, selling more than 75 million records worldwide and garnering 19 Top 40 hits, propelling them to the top of fame.
They were forced to stop traveling in 2016 when Marie was told by doctors that she was too sick to continue working.
She previously battled a brain tumor in 2002, having been diagnosed after fainting at home.
Doctors warned him that he only had a 20% chance of survival, but he managed to recover after a long and grueling treatment.
He died in December 2019.
