Manchester United have endured a disappointing transfer window so far, and could be destined for further disappointment with Ousmane Dembele.
United have five days left to achieve their main goal Jadon Sancho before next Monday’s transfer deadline, and Donny van de Beek remains their only signing of the summer so far.
But Borussia Dortmund seems to be holding firm on its £ 108 million valuation of Sancho, so Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side may have to turn to alternative targets.
Reports from Spain have claimed that the Premier League giants are willing to give up signing Sancho and focus their attention on Barcelona winger Dembélé.
The French international has fallen into the hierarchical order of the Nou Camp and is not believed to be in the plans of new manager Ronald Koeman.
United is reportedly considering making an approach with a view to taking Dembélé on a one-season loan.
However, the 23-year-old has previously turned down United’s proposals, and he is not believed to be interested this time either.
The former Borussia Dortmund player wants to stay with the La Liga giants and fight for a place according to Sky Germany , quoted by Inside Futbol.
He joined the La Liga giants in 2017 for £ 135 million after bursting onto the scene with Dortmund.
But things have not turned out well in Catalonia, and he only made nine appearances in all competitions last season after suffering a severe hamstring tear that forced him to undergo surgery.
Dembélé rejected any interest in him last summer, determined to remain at Barça.
And it seems that he wants to do the same this season, although the competition for places at the Camp Nou has intensified.
