A hiker who had been losing the Yorkshire Dales for almost three days was found alive.
Pensioner Harry Harvey was reported missing for the first time at 1.30pm on Sunday, September 6, after failing to meet his friend at the Tan Hill Inn.
He was on an organized walking tour with a group in the Upper Dales when he disappeared.
Police feared that the 80-year-old from Tynemouth who was said to be a competent hiker would get lost on the trail, Yorkshire Live reports.
Mountain rescue teams have been working tirelessly to find Mr. Harvey with local residents and workers who were asked to search the sheds, barns and other outbuildings.
Those involved include Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team, Teesdale & Weardale MRT, North of Tyne Mountain Rescue, Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue, Cleveland Mountain Rescue, RAF Mountain Rescue, and Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England.
This morning it was confirmed that a wildlife photographer had found him alive.
An emotional video posted on the Tan Hill Inn Facebook page shortly before 11 am shows Mr. Harvey being hugged by a relieved loved one.
News of Harry’s finding sparked massive relief on social media and there was great excitement from people following the pub’s Facebook page.
Mandy wrote: “Very well done to everyone involved in the rescue. Glad you came back safe and sound. You don’t seem to be distraught over your ordeal at all.
“Well done Harry for being a tough cookie and able to cope with 2 nights in the North Yorkshire moors.”
Samantha added: “Amazing news and getting into the pub. Get him a pint and a breakfast.”
Jane also wrote: “Thank you so much to everyone involved in finding Harry! You guys are really amazing people.”
