Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is “out of reach” in the Old Trafford hot seat after Manchester United fell in a 3-1 home loss to Crystal Palace in their first game of the season.
That’s according to expert and former Arsenal winger Perry Groves, who also criticized four Red Devils players for not being good enough “for a club the likes of Manchester United.”
Andros Townsend’s first game and Wilfried Zaha’s double sank United in Saturday’s game despite new signing Donny van de Beek scoring on his debut.
The result raised doubts about Solskjaer’s ability to advance the club after his team’s trophy-free 2019/20 campaign ended in defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League semi-finals.
Groves thinks a problem for the Northwest giants is the number of players failing to pass the grade.
He said talkSPORT : “(Victor) Lindelof, (Luke) Shaw, (Scott) McTominay and (Daniel) James; they are not good enough for a club of the stature of Manchester United. There are four players right there.
Groves then turned his attention to Solskjaer, who he says is “nowhere near” in the top 20 managers in the world.
Is Groves’ criticism of Solskjaer just or unjustified? Give us your opinion here.

The former Gunners star added: “You look at Crystal Palace with her manager (Roy Hodgson). Crystal Palace has a coach who is very, very good at managing a team at Palace level, in the middle of the Premier League to the bottom of the Premier League.
“He sets up very well, very well structured and knows his job very well. I think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not have the stature that the manager Manchester United should have.
“I would not be among the 20 best managers in the world, far from it.
“So if I ask you a question: ‘Do Everton have a better manager than Manchester United?’ I think (Carlo Ancelotti’s) better.
“Do Wolverhampton Wanderers have a better manager (Nuno Espirito Santo) than Manchester United at this particular time? Does Leicester have a better manager (Brendan Rodgers) than Manchester United?
“I think he (Solskjaer) is out of reach.”
