Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted that he is keen to strengthen his squad after his team booked their spot in the EFL Cup fourth round.

Goals from Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood gave United a 3-0 win over Luton, helping the club to leave behind memories of a 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace.

That loss to Roy Hodgson’s team cast a shadow over United’s start to the season and Luke Shaw called on the club to make more signings in the final two weeks of the transfer window following the loss.

Donny van de Beek remains the club’s only signing so far this summer and Solskjaer had planned to make up to four transfers in talks with the club before the window opened.

With just two weeks left until the window closes, United are running out of time to add to their squad and while Solskjaer admits he has no updates, he hinted that the club is working to do exactly that.

‘We are working with those who have [right now]’Solskjaer said.

‘Let’s see what happens. We’ll give you updates if there’s anything. ‘

United expect to close a deal for Porto side Alex Telles this week, but negotiations with the Portuguese club have progressed slowly.

The 27-year-old has agreed to personal terms with United, but Porto are seeking around £ 23 million for his signature, even though he is entering the final year of his contract.

United remain desperate to sign Jadon Sancho, but it seems unlikely that he will give in to Dortmund’s demand to pay £ 108m for the England winger.

Former United midfielder Darren Fletcher believes Solskjaer has earned the right to be supported in the market and says the board should listen to his advice.

“For me, trust Ole Gunnar Solskjaer,” Fletcher told Sky Sports.

“As long as the board is listening to him, the work he’s done has been fantastic, the recruiting has been great,” he said. Sky Sports.

“For me, I’d rather wait a bit longer and get the right goal than go after someone mediocre in the meantime, the team is good enough. The most important thing is to trust Solskjaer.
