You could say that Facundo Pellistri was the lowest-radar signing of a busy deadline day for Manchester United.
After Tottenham’s 5-1 win on Sunday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pushed to significantly improve his playing equipment.
Although a deal for names like Jadon Sancho and Ousmane Dembele did not materialize, United still managed to secure four transfers in the closing hours of the summer window.
Edinson Cavani gives Solskjaer the added attacking power he had been looking for across the window, while Alex Telles’ arrival from Porto could mean a substantial improvement on the left back.
They also agreed to a deal to sign the exciting Atalanta winger Amad Traore in a deal that could fetch £ 37m.
He will remain with the Italians until January with the work permit issues still to be resolved.
But the acquisition of Pellistri from Peñarol is something Solskjaer hopes will provide an immediate boost to his beleaguered first-team side.
The 18-year-old winger has been highly sought after all summer, and Real Madrid, Barcelona and Man City have been credited with an interest.
Manchester United are looking to chart their way back to the top. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already signed Donny van de Beek, but Jadon Sancho remains Manchester United’s number one target.

And after agreeing to a £ 10 million fee, Solskjaer admitted that the club had been monitoring the Uruguayan for several years.
“Our scouts have followed Facundo for a long time and we believe he will be a real talent in the long run,” said Solskjaer.
“While we understand that it will take time for him to adjust to the English game, he is capable of making an impact with his pace and ability to beat his opponent.
“Facundo has the perfect platform at Manchester United to develop and has all the technical qualities and the right mindset to become a top player here.
“We are all looking forward to working with him to develop his potential in the years to come.”
Pellistri, who has been playing with United favorite Diego Forlán, revealed that the prospect of being coached by Solskjaer is ‘perfect’ for his development.
“Joining a club with Manchester United history is a dream come true,” Pellistri told the club’s official website. “I have learned a lot in Peñarol and I would like to thank you for everything you have done for me.
“Having the confidence of the coach is an incredible feeling and I know that working with him will be perfect for my development.
“I am entering a squad full of great players that I will learn from every day. Everyone knows that Manchester United is a club that offers young players a chance and I am willing to work hard every day to earn those opportunities and prove myself in England.
