Nurse Lucy Letby appears in court charged with the murder of eight babies

Nurse Lucy Letby will appear in Chester Crown Court charged with the murder and attempted murder of babies at Countess of Chester Hospital this afternoon (November 13).

The 30-year-old healthcare professional is charged with eight counts of murder and 10 counts of attempted murder.

The charges were filed following an investigation by Cheshire Police into a series of non-fatal deaths and collapses during the period June 2015 to June 2016 in the neonatal unit at Countess of Chester Hospital.

Letby, of Arran Avenue, Hereford, appeared via video link in Warrington Magistrates Court yesterday (November 12), when she spoke only to confirm her name, date of birth and address.

She was taken into custody prior to her appearance in Chester Crown Court today.
