Northern Ireland fans react as Leeds Dallas ace shines against Bosnia

Northern Ireland won a penalty shoot-out over Bosnia on the road with Stuart Dallas impressing throughout the match, and Northern Ireland supporters have applauded the Leeds star on Twitter.

The 29-year-old Dallas came close to 50 caps for Northern Ireland when he picked up his 45th with Ian Baraclough’s team. Northern Ireland had to hold on to a 1-1 draw, with Bosnia arguably the best team for the first 90 minutes.

AC Milan midfielder Rade Krunic opened the scoring after just 14 minutes, catching the end of a brilliant pass from Branimir Cipetic to find the back of the net to pass former Leeds goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

But it was 1-1 at the start of the second half, when Aberdeen veteran Niall McGinn drove home after a rebound fell softly his way. The match remained on that scoreboard, despite the fact that Bosnia had Miralem Pjanic and Edin Dzeko.

The game went to penalties and Dallas became Northern Ireland’s first penalty taker, scoring for his country. After a fast-paced penalty shootout, Northern Ireland finally booked their place in the next round with a 4-3 win.

Northern Ireland supporters spoke about left-hander Dallas, who played on the left side of Baraclough’s 3-5-2 system. Many believe the £ 1.3 million signing of Leeds (Sky Sports) was one of his country’s best players on the night.
