Another school in Devon has confirmed that one person tested positive for coronavirus.
Atlantic Academy in Bideford issued a statement confirming that “there has been a positive test for COVID-19 within the school community.”
In the statement, which has been sent to parents, the school said it has followed the advice of Public Health England (PHE) and will send another letter to the “small number of children” who have been in prolonged direct contact with the person. who have tested positive, in which they will be asked to self-isolate for 14 days.
The school remains open to other students, and Principal Lynsey Slater has told parents that their child should attend classes if they are feeling well.
Ms Slater said: “Public Health England has informed us that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the school.
” The small number of children who have been in prolonged direct contact with the confirmed case will have received an individual letter and will stay at home for 14 days.
” We know this may be of concern to you, but we continue to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.
” This letter is to inform you of the current situation and to give you advice on how to support your child.
” The school remains open and your child should continue to attend if he or she continues well.
“I appreciate that this will be a time of concern for all members of the school community, and we ask that you remain calm and vigilant during this period. Please contact your child’s coach if you have any concerns.”
The Atlantic Academy is the latest school in Devon to confirm a positive case of COVID-19 there.
Earlier this week, two cases of coronavirus were detected at Tiverton High School, leading to the entire 10th year being asked to stay home and self-isolate for 14 days.
On Tuesday (September 29) Westclyst Primary in Exeter became the latest school to have a confirmed case.
Children ages 5 and 6 have been told to stay home for 14 days.
Other schools, including Bideford College, have also told students to isolate themselves based on PHE advice.
What to do if your child has symptoms of COVID 19
If your child exhibits symptoms of COVID-19, you should arrange the test through the NHS online portal or by calling 119.
Your home must be insulated until you receive the okay test results.
Coronavirus symptoms are a recent appearance of:

● Loss or change in the normal sense of taste or smell.
