East Lothian will have loosening restrictions starting tomorrow from level three to level two.

You will see that the restrictions will be lifted at 6 am on Tuesday, November 24th.

But Midlothian will remain at level three despite hopes that it may also go down a level.

The Scottish government tweeted: “As of 6 am on Tuesday 24 November, #coronavirus Protection level 2 will apply to East Lothian.

“Due to the increase in coronavirus cases, Midlothian will remain at Level 3.”

It comes as the area reported an increase in coronavirus cases in recent days, raising ‘concern’.

The news means that casinos, cinemas, theaters, museums, bowling alleys, arcades, amusement fairs, theme parks, adventure and activity parks, and bingo halls may reopen in East Lothian but with a curfew at 11 p.m.

At level two, public attendance at indoor and outdoor events, such as performances and shows, is also allowed, but is limited to whichever is less: 50% capacity, or 2,000 people outdoors or 1,000 people indoors.

The public may also attend spectator sporting and commercial events inside and outside, subject to similar rules mentioned above.

Second tier Scots are still forbidden to mingle with anyone they don’t live with or who isn’t in their bubble of support.

This includes any indoor environment, whether at home or in a public place.

Speaking during the Scottish government’s Covid-19 update earlier today, Nicola Sturgeon said: “Last week we indicated that East Lothian and Midlothian, if there were no deterioration in their positions, would drop from Level 3 to Level 2 as of tomorrow. .

“I can confirm that this will go ahead for East Lothian.

“However, the national incident management team has expressed some concern this morning about an increase in test cases and positivity in the past few days in Midlothian.

“So we will consider it further this afternoon and confirm the position regarding Midlothian later.”

The Scottish government tweeted confirming that Midlothian would remain on the third tier at 6.30pm.
