Nicola Sturgeon launched a scathing attack on the internal market bill proposals, warning Welsh ministers that they were also concerned that it “steals” powers from delegated governments. Downing Street has insisted that the bill would give additional powers to the delegated governments of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scottish Secretary Alister Jack also argued that jobs north of the border would be at “grave risk” without the legislation.

The Internal Market Bill that the UK Government will publish today is a total frontal assault on decentralization

The UK government has stated that when the Brexit transition period between the UK and the EU ends on December 31, powers will be returned from Brussels to the administrations of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

But an irate Ms Sturgeon tweeted: “The internal market bill that the UK government will publish today is a total frontal assault on repayment.

“And to the usual voices” but the SNP would say “, read the opinion of the Government of Wales below, correctly referring to the bill that ‘steals’ powers from delegated governments.

“In the upcoming @ScotParl elections, @theSNP will stand up for independence. And increasingly, it’s not about independence from the status quo of devolution.

“It is about independence as the only way to protect the Scottish Parliament from being undermined and its powers eroded.

And added to all the above, this is a bill that, according to the Government itself, violates international law.

“This UK Governor is the most reckless (and to make matters worse, incompetent) and unprincipled in my life.

“Scotland can do better and we will have that option.”

But this latest plan by Sturgeon was brutally destroyed by various critics on Twitter as he continues his plan for a second independence referendum in Scotland.

One person wrote: “Whatever the problems are now, independence would be a disaster for Scotland, it would ruin the UK, economically disastrous, but you only want your moment of glory as prime minister and power in your racist hatred of the English, which is maintains since young.

“Payback is never enough. Wake up Scots!”

Another person tweeted: “It is their own fault. As delegated powers, they should have worked with the Westminster government.”

“But Nicola, you’ve been downright rude and worked against them on everything. We don’t trust you either.”

A third person commented: ‘I cannot believe that the SNP prioritizes the EU and its possible retention of powers, over the importance of the UK internal market for Scotland.

“It does not make any sense !!!”

The latest attack by Ms Sturgeon comes after Scottish Secretary of the Constitution Mike Russell promised that the country’s government would not consent to the new bill.

He insisted that Scottish ministers “could not recommend consent to a bill that undermines devolution and the Scottish Parliament, and which, by the UK government itself, will violate international law.”

Russell angered: “This is a shabby plan that will open the door to bad trade deals and unleash an assault on devolution the likes of which we have not experienced since the Scottish Parliament was established.”

“We cannot, and will not allow, that to happen.

“It will open the door to a race to the bottom on food standards, environmental standards, and jeopardize key public health policies such as the minimum unit price.”

“It will also deal a severe blow to the Scottish economy by making it difficult for the UK government to conclude free trade agreements if other countries think the UK will not meet its obligations.”
