Scotland has recorded 56 coronavirus deaths and 1,357 positive cases in the past 24 hours, John Swinney announced.
The death toll under this measure, of people who tested positive for the virus for the first time in the previous 28 days, is now 3,244.
Speaking at the Scottish government’s coronavirus briefing, the deputy prime minister said the daily test positivity rate is 5.7%, down from 6.1% on Thursday.
A total of 79,017 people tested positive in Scotland, up from 77,660 the day before.
Of the new cases, 433 are in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 267 in Lanarkshire and 163 in Lothian.
1,228 people in the hospital have been confirmed to have the virus, an increase of 21 in 24 hours.
Of these patients, 96 are in intensive care, two fewer.
The figures were announced on the day that three council areas in Scotland are now living under level three lockdown restrictions after this week’s review.
Fife, Angus, Perth and Kinross were put under tighter restrictions starting at 6 a.m. today.
Local authorities in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS region were warned that they could reach the fourth highest level in the next review on Tuesday.
