Nicola Sturgeon has been caught breaking her own coronavirus laws after chatting with retirees in a pub without a mask.

The Prime Minister was photographed talking to three elderly women without covering his face at a funeral at the Stable Bar and Restaurant in Mortonhall, Edinburgh, last Friday.

Sturgeon was attending the funeral of a senior civil servant where he claims he removed his mask “briefly”.

Since then, the SNP leader has apologized for the “stupid mistake” for which she is reportedly “kicking herself.”

In a statement, Sturgeon said: “Last Friday, while attending a funeral, I briefly removed my mask. It was a stupid mistake and I’m really sorry.

“I speak every day about the importance of masks, so I am not going to offer any excuses. I was wrong, I’m kicking myself and I’m sorry. “

Sturgeon has repeatedly recalled the rules around Covid, including today in Parliament.

Punters must cover their faces in hospitality settings unless seated at a table.

Violations of covid rules are punishable by a fixed penalty notice of £ 60, reduced to £ 30 if paid within 28 days. Penalties are doubled for repeat offenses, up to £ 960.

The law establishes: “A person who commits a crime under this regulation is liable, in summary sentence, for a fine that does not exceed the legal maximum.”

The Prime Minister is often depicted wearing a tartan mask when she goes to Holyrood and has emphasized the importance of toppings.
