Newcastle United player ratings as magpies are well beaten again

[ad_1]

Newcastle lost again at the Etihad and Manchester City secured a simple victory.

Goals from Ilkay Gundogan and Ferran Torres consigned Steve Bruce’s United to a second loss in a matter of days, as the match went almost exactly as most had predicted.

Newcastle were far from humiliated as they defended quite well and had a couple of chances. But the hosts kept United at arm’s length when Newcastle began their nightmarish holiday program with a loss.

Are here Lee Ryder Player Ratings .

Karl Darlow 8

Another good performance from Newcastle’s player of the season so far

DeAndre Yedlin 6

A decent effort in the end, but the distribution has room for improvement.

Federico Fernandez 6

He had a nightmare about the second goal. Relatively stable in the middle.

Fabian Schar 6

A constant change against a stellar cast upon his return.

Ciaran Clark 6

Tried to keep the troops going and made some good runs forward.

Matt Ritchie 5

Some thoroughbred challenges, but the crossover was lacking. Hooked in the middle of the second half.

Isaac Hayden 6

United’s passing master on a night when possession was hard to come by.

Matty longstaff 6

He made some timely interceptions in between. He kept going throughout the difficult night.

Miguel Almiron 6

He offered a bit of threat over the counter, but very few of his teammates on the same wavelength. Place four crosses the night before being replaced.

Jacob Murphy 7

He was very good in the second half and caught City at half-time. A decent effort saved by Ederson.

Joelinton 5

Won a fair amount of aerial balls. Tame header that went off track summed up offensive. It had very little service.

Subs

Jamal Lewis 6 (for Ritchie 66)

Thrown into a difficult situation. He did well.

Andy Carroll 5 (for Joelinton 71)

Managed only four touches.

Dwight Gayle (for Almiron 82)

Subs must play 15 minutes.
