Newcastle United have ended their interest in signing Rogeiro from Sassuolo in Italian Serie A.
The Magpies are fans of Brazilian Rogerio, 22, and have been looking to bring him to St James’ Park in the ongoing transfer window.
However, following the capture of Norwich City’s left-back Jamal Lewis, Newcastle have called off their raid by Sassuolo’s man.
The deal is now dead according to Sky Italia, with Lewis as the only left back Newcastle will sign in the current transfer window.
Newcastle has spent £ 15 million to sign Lewis from Norwich, and the deal could reach £ 20 million through add-ons.
The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Steve Bruce’s side.
Lewis was unable to join Premier League champions Liverpool earlier this summer as the Reds saw an offer for the Northern Ireland international rejected by Norwich; he will now continue to play Premier League football after joining Newcastle.
Left-back Rogerio spent time at Juventus before joining Sassuolo on a loan, and Neroverdi made his move permanent.
