More cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Somerset as the total number of positive tests in the county continues to grow.
As of 9 am today (Saturday 9 May), the State of Public Health in England has reported 14 new cases of coronavirus in Somerset.
The latest figures show that there are now 1,078 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our county.

The North Somerset area has seen the largest increase in the entire region in the last 24-hour period with seven new cases, totaling 294.
The Somerset County Council area has seen six new confirmed cases of COVID-19, increasing the area’s numbers to 563.
Meanwhile, there has been a new case in the Bath area and Northeast Somerset – the latest total for the area is now 217 confirmed cases.
Public Health England has now started publishing more information about positive cases of COVID-19 in the six Somerset districts.
Figures from Mendip, Sedgemoor, Somerset West and Taunton and South Somerset are now accessible, showing that there have been new cases of COVID-19 in each of these areas.
The latest data shows that there has been a single case in Mendip, Sedgemoor and Somerset West and Taunton, while there have been three cases in the southern Somerset area.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in each Somerset district, as of 9 am today, is as follows:

- Northeast Bath and Somerset – 222
- Somerset West and Taunton – 213
- Sedgemoor – 153
- South Somerset – 146
- Mendip – 51
Confirmation of new reported cases of COVID-19 occurs when a new coronavirus-related death was reported in Somerset, according to daily NHS figures.
One death was reported to the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust on Wednesday (May 6), with a total of two confirmed deaths that day.
The death toll across the county now stands at 120.
