None of the injuries are said to be life threatening.

Police are on the hunt for a gunman after several people were shot at a shopping center in Wisconsin, USA.

An ‘active shooting incident’ broke out at the Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa, near Milwaukee, around 3pm local time on Friday afternoon.

At least three patients were seen being taken from the scene by ambulance, CBS 58 reported in Milwaukee.

Wauwatosa Mayor Dennis McBride confirmed there were multiple victims, but said none of their injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

He said the shooter is “on the run” and that around 75 officers are at the scene.

It’s unclear how many people have been shot, but all of the wounded have been taken to hospital, Mayor McBride said.

A police officer at the main entrance to Froedtert Hospital told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that eight patients from Mayfair had been transported there.

Witnesses inside the mall reported hearing multiple shots before being asked to shelter in place, according to local media.

The FBI is assisting in the investigation.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office tweeted that it was not responding to the scene. It usually responds to scenes with deaths.

Mayfair Mall was the site of a shooting in February, when a police officer shot and killed Alvin Cole, a 17-year-old black man.

Protests broke out in Wauwatosa in October following news that Officer Joseph Mensah would not face criminal charges.
