David Moyes has called for the VAR rules to be “resolved” after goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski was marginally caught off his line for a penalty in West Ham’s 2-1 win at Leeds.
The Hammers rose to fifth place in the Premier League after headers from Tomas Soucek and Angelo Ogbonna earned their team a first victory at Elland Road in 20 years.
But the game started badly for the visitors when Fabianski fouled Leeds forward Patrick Bamford in the second minute.

The Pole seemed to repair his mistake after saving his compatriot Mateusz Klich’s penalty, but the VAR ordered the penalty to be repeated with the goalkeeper out of his line, and the midfielder was not wrong the second time to call.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Moyes was initially reluctant to discuss the incident, but believes that the bosses of the major Premier League clubs should start making a fuss over such decisions.
‘I think you [Whelan] I should talk about that for the goal and the penalty, there’s not much I can say, ‘said the 57-year-old Scotsman.
You might as well let the referees talk about it. We played great tonight, but until we fix the rules, I don’t think I’ll be too happy, but it doesn’t matter what I say.

But the VAR ordered the penalty to be retaken with Fabianski coming off his line marginally.
Perhaps there are more influential managers who can make a difference with what they say.
“It’s probably better for you to discuss it because we are not discussing football anymore, you are discussing the VAR decision all the time, so you better ask me about football so I can answer them to the best of my ability.”
However, in a separate interview with Match of the Day after the game, Moyes added: ‘It’s a really good result, but we had another setback after 30 seconds.
‘There are some terrible decisions that are happening right now. Whoever saw it must have had [Fabianski’s foot] Bone scan. The decision was silly.
Klich did not miss from the second penalty and put Marcelo Bielsa’s men ahead
Moyes urged ‘most influential coaches’ in the Premier League to start complaining
‘It was a final shame. I was angry. I’m still angry. That’s how football has gone.
I think your heel is on the line. You need to have a microscope to see it. Surely the benefit must be for the goalkeeper, he has made the save. The game continued for 15 seconds and continued. I’m disappointed and angry about it. ‘
West Ham has won four matches out of five and reached the 20-point mark by beating Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
