Mohamed salah
WHO?
Liverpool star forward and hero of Saturday’s treble.
Where?
Express dating agent Sjaak Swart, who is a good friend of Ronald Koeman, said Salah’s deal for Barcelona could be done before next month’s transfer deadline.
He told DAZN: “I know Koeman wants it, and I know Salah would like to go.”
When asked about his source, Swart added: “I can’t.
“I’m not going to go into more details, but believe me I know.”
Than?
So add Mo Salah alongside Gini Wijnaldum with players that Ronald Koeman supposedly ‘wants’ in Barcelona.
It is too easy to speculate on such a revelation.
The Egyptian looked quite happy to pocket three goals in a 4-3 win over Leeds United and is under contract until 2024 with the Reds.
And there is no suggestion that anything is going to change.
One of Swart’s clients made a big move this summer, Donny van de Beek, who secured a transfer to Manchester United.
But he doesn’t seem to have any other with any connection to Barcelona or Liverpool, so read whatever you like.
Thiago Alcantara
WHO?
Bayern Munich midfielder – for now – as if you didn’t know
Where?
The agent of a current Reds midfielder claims his client will get a shot at Anfield for a new signing, Teamtalk reports.
They say Marko Grujic’s agent insists that the player has been promised a chance to prove himself this season and, since Jurgen Klopp already has a packed midfield (Gini Wijnaldum has also agreed to stay), a deal for Thiago seems less and less likely.
Grujic has spent two seasons on loan at Hertha Berlin, but his agent Fali Ramadani is said to have told Kicker: “Liverpool want to keep him. That could change in January at the earliest.”
This is generating further speculation that Manchester United is now “clear” to make their move for the Bayern player.
Than?
ECHO understands, as many fans already know, that Thiago is not currently an active target for the Reds. It’s a situation that’s not expected to change unless something remarkable happens before the transfer deadline next month.
If no player is sold, it is highly unlikely that a new one will be brought in.
Gini Wijnaldum and Marko Grujic are just two players linked with an outing this summer, but as Klopp weighs his options, it perhaps makes more sense that both are sticking with the coach against letting their Dutch midfielder go.
Denis Zakaria
WHO?
Borussia Monchengladbach defensive midfielder
Where?
Liverpool have reportedly shown interest in Borussia Monchengladbach defensive midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to the Daily Mail.
Citing Bild, they claim that the Swiss international, whose current deal runs through 2022, is on Jurgen Klopp’s radar.
However, it is not expected to be available until next summer and his article says:
“The 23-year-old’s asking price is believed to be in the region of £ 37 million and next summer Monchengladbach will be open to sell him before the final year of his contract.”
Than?
It should probably come as no surprise that Liverpool is planning ahead when it comes to its transfer business.
Jurgen Klopp has spoken about the additional consideration needed when it comes to spending money after the coronavirus pandemic. Whether Zakaria emerges as a definite target may depend on the state of Liverpool’s midfield options next year.
