Mohamed Salah has hinted that he wants to extend his contract with Liverpool after declaring that he wants to break “all the club records”.
But the Egyptian is open-minded about his future after refusing to rule out a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona, contenders for the league title.
The 28-year-old has been in brilliant scoring form this season with 14 goals in 20 appearances and has scored in each of Liverpool’s last four games.
Earlier this month, Salah broke Steven Gerrard’s record for most Champions League goals with Liverpool, one of several milestones he has reached since arriving at Anfield in the summer of 2017.
And the forward has indicated that he wants to be around to set more standards when asked how long he wanted to stay with the Reds.
“It is difficult, but right now I can say that everything is in the hands of the club,” Salah said.
“Of course I want to break records here, all the club records, but everything is in the hands of the club.
“I think I have broken some records, I wish I could break all the club records, that would be fine.
“But the team comes first before any record. But as much as you keep breaking records and winning games, that’s great too.”
Salah, however, did not rule out a movement towards two of the main groups in Spain during an interview with the Spanish media outlet AS.
“I think Madrid and Barcelona are top clubs,” he said.
“We never know what is going to happen in the future, but right now I am focused on winning the Premier League and the Champions League again with my club.”

Heading into this weekend’s games, Salah topped the Premier League scorers’ chart alongside Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Tottenham Hotspur’s Heung-Min Son with 11 goals.
And when asked if he could claim a third Golden Boot in four years, he replied, “I don’t know. I don’t want to say that for now.
“But yeah, I always try to score goals to help the team win the game. There’s a good chance of being the top scorer again for the third time.
“But the most important thing is to win something, to win the great trophies with the team. That is the most important thing.”
Salah, however, admitted that he was annoyed at being overlooked for the role of captain in the Champions League tie against FC Midtjylland last week when Trent Alexander-Arnold coached a much-changed Liverpool.
“Honestly, I was very disappointed,” he said. “I was hoping to be the captain. But it’s a coach’s decision so I accept it.”
