Microsoft’s Surface Go 2 should be imminently released, later in May, and when (hopefully) it arrives, it will come with an Intel Wi-Fi 6 adapter that should achieve much faster wireless speeds, as well as an improvement in battery life. .
This is going through another FCC filing that has been spotted, as Windows Latest reports, again for a “laptop computing device” rumored to have a model number corresponding to Microsoft’s version of Surface Go 2 with LTE support. .
If all of this is aligned as suggested, the presentation indicates that Surface Go 2 will provide Wi-Fi 6, courtesy of the Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 adapter, which offers the latest Wi-Fi standard (formerly known as 802.11ax, the next step from 802.11ac) and Bluetooth 5.0.
The AX200 supports dual-band 2×2 Wi-Fi, and the good news with Wi-Fi 6 is that it comes with a huge advantage in front of battery life – that is, Target Wake Time technology.
This means that the host device does not need to be constantly listening to wireless signals: the adapter can communicate with the router and wake up only when it is necessary to transmit data, and this will result in savings in energy use and, therefore, greater battery duration .
As you probably know, Wi-Fi 6 also means better wireless performance compared to the previous generation standard, and what’s more, better performance in dense environments filled with Wi-Fi signals (and other signal noise) like apartment blocks.
Surface Book 3 leak
This is due to the fact that a similar leak was recently detected from the Surface Book 3 in the form of an FCC filing stating that this hybrid will also use Wi-Fi 6, again assuming that the assumptions in front of the model name are correct. Although to be fair, Wi-Fi 6 would be an expected update.
Looking at the other alleged Surface Go 2 hardware specs, we’ve already seen plenty of leaks, and the tablet is rumored to increase the screen size slightly to 10.5-inches (from 10-inches), while maintaining overall chassis-size performance. the same (the bezels will be thinner). The screen resolution is also set to increase to 1,920 x 1,280 pixels, if believed in the reports.
We’ve also heard that Surface Go 2 will come in both LTE and non-LTE variants, with a choice of two processors: Intel’s Pentium 4425Y and Core m3-8100Y.
While the grapevine’s opening word in the form of assumed prices from an Italian retailer suggests that the sequel could be more expensive, we’ve since heard that the Go 2 is likely to maintain the same pricing scheme as the original Surface Go.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether any of this is true or not, although there is now plenty of evidence for the Surface Go 2 specs, and with the FCC filings, a May release also seems more likely.
