Max Verstappen has revealed that, after seeing Romain Grosjean’s accident, he called his family before the race started again.
The Bahrain Grand Prix received a red flag on the first lap after Grosjean’s terrible accident, in which his car broke through barriers and split in half, causing a large fire.

Verstappen has said that if he were a team manager, he would fire any driver who said he didn’t want to complete the race, but the crash affected him enough to call his family during the stop.

Grosjean’s survival was due in large part to the security measures put in place by the sport, from the introduction of the halo to the medical personnel on site.
Verstappen wasn’t a fan of the former when it was added to the cars, but he’s grateful for it now.
“When I saw the flames it was pretty scary to watch, but luckily of course he jumped out of the car himself and that was the most important thing. You can really see the safety, how much it has improved, ”said the Dutchman after the race.
