Health Secretary Matt Hancock will lead a press conference on the coronavirus in Downing Street on Thursday afternoon.
Professor Stephen Powis of the NHS England and Professor Chris Whitty, England’s chief medical officer, will join Hancock.
It comes after Health Secretary Matt Hancock said Tuesday that he was “very confident that the summer of 2021 will be bright without the kind of restrictions that made the summer of 2020 more restricted.”
Hancock said the faster Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine is rolled out, the sooner the tier system can be removed entirely.
Conservative Imran Ahmad Khan (Wakefield) said: “As more and more of us are vaccinated against Covid-19, can (Mr Hancock) outline the plans out there to ease the more draconian measures across the entire system of levels so that people and companies can return to normality? “
Mr. Hancock responded, “As the vaccine rolls out, the best way to lower anyone’s area through the levels is to continue to abide by the restrictions that, unfortunately, are still absolutely necessary to keep people safe.” .
“Having said that though, because we have a vaccine, the faster we can implement the vaccine, the sooner we can get to the point where we can get rid of the system entirely.
And Hancock told MPs that he couldn’t confirm a timescale on vaccine dose numbers given the challenges he faced in making the jab.
But Hancock told the Commons that he hopes that vaccines in nursing homes can “start before Christmas.”
