The reopening of KFC in a Swansea shopping park today caused a long reduction in traffic, and also delayed people who visited other stores to obtain essential items.
The national chicken takeaway chain today reopened 100 of its branches across the country, allowing people to collect take-out chicken dinners as well as provide deliveries.
It also opened self-service lanes at 55 restaurants, including the one located in the out-of-town Morfa Shopping Park in Swansea, next to Liberty Stadium.
But his return to commerce proved so popular that hundreds of drivers turned up to enjoy his products after six weeks of blocking the coronavirus.
Long lines of traffic meant that people who came to visit other stores in the retail park also faced long waits as queues to enter and exit the park increased.
Boots, Poundland and Morrisons are the only other companies currently operating in the park.
A visitor said that she went to the site to get a prescription for an elderly Boots the Chemists neighbor, and that she had chosen the pharmacy in Morfa specifically for its large size, rather than risk visiting a chemist with a smaller store, which It allows you to keep a safe distance from others.

“I went to find an important medication for a neighbor who is isolating himself, but I was trapped in the queue for more than an hour.
“It was much more important than the people running to get their blanched chicken, but it was complete chaos.”
Another visitor hoping to get to Morrisons added: “I was trapped for 30 minutes behind all these people queuing to enter KFC. Call this block?
KFC has been contacted for comment.
A South Wales Police spokesman said: “We are aware of the traffic congestion at the Morfa Retail Park and we have notified the Retail Park Administration and the Road Authority, who are responsible for traffic management.
“We would like to remind people that the government’s advice is to only leave your home for an essential trip.”
