Arsenal legend Martin Keown has told Mikel Arteta what needs to change about his management style.
Arteta and the Gunners appeared to have gotten off to a good start to the season, but two defeats of two at the hands of Manchester City and Leicester City respectively have set a different tone in the first two months.
The Gunners have just nine points from six games and criticism is starting to rise around Arteta, particularly given that the Spaniard is shifting things from game to game.
And Keown has pointed that out as well, telling the Arsenal boss to look for success in the consistency of team selection.

“They keep switching from one system to another and they did it with Emery,” former Gunners defender Keown told Stadium Astro.
“That is what I would like to see now, the same images, the same triangles, the same movements, the same associations, the same relationships.
“If you keep changing it, you can’t find a rhythm, and that’s something I found on a very successful team. It was like putting on old sneakers for a game.
“It was all there. You would shoot Patrick Vieira, Dennis Bergkamp, midfield, [Thierry] Henry on the canal; it was three passes.

“These players are getting the ball now and it’s getting a bit stuck, so I think keep it simple and start building from this team. If this is the way he wants to play, stick with it and try to put people on getting the correct messages and work on it.
“It was very static, the three forwards never really moved from their positions, they weren’t available.”
However, Keown wanted to point out that Arteta still needs many opportunities to improve and that he is the right man for the job.
“This is a completely new project for the manager. We don’t want to be too critical,” he added. “I think he’s the right man for the job one hundred percent, a super brilliant manager and he’s going to have setbacks, that’s how he responds to this now.
