Manchester United fans may have to accept a scenario where the club does not buy a central defender according to the latest reports.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was said to be looking for an opportunity to sign someone for the position, but it seems that such an obvious opportunity has not arisen.
Fans don’t feel position is a priority, but are still eager to see a new partner for Harry Maguire, with RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano seen as the ideal signing.
Unfortunately, it appears that the notable Frenchman is unavailable this summer, so United are looking to embrace his fate.
Solskjaer’s main transfer target was Jadon Sancho and at the time of this writing that has not happened yet either and seems less likely to happen every day.
According to Forbes, the improbability of a center-back this summer has prompted the Red Devils to reconsider their options and now they are considering giving Eric Bailly more minutes while pushing Axel Tuanzebe and Teden Mengi.
The aggressive Ivorian is a fan favorite and if he can prove his fitness then there’s no reason this theoretical scenario wouldn’t work.
However, it is a situation that can be quickly undone if both Bailly and Tuanzebe are injured, just as they did last season.
Manchester United’s new star Donny van de Beek is the 13th Dutchman to play for the senior team. But how much do you know about the other 12? Take our questionnaire below to find out.
