Daniel James on first team opportunities
Daniel James believes that competition for striker positions at Manchester United can only be a good thing.
The Welsh winger scored on his return to United’s lineup in a 6-2 win over Leeds, having not appeared since scoring as a substitute against Istanbul Basaksehir in November.
Having been a surprise inclusion in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad for the game, the goal will be a great confidence booster for James. United are blessed with a variety of attacking options right now, but 23-year-old James told MUTV that he is determined to compete with players like Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial for playing time.
“It will always be [the case] here and that’s good for all of us.
“I don’t think any of us want to be in the team thinking that we are going to play week after week. We want to play that competition and it’s good that many of us can also play in any position.” .
“It’s always good to score on that [Stretford] end. Obviously there is no joy, but I know everyone is cheering at home. “
