Manchester United are reportedly ready to ditch Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira to make room for Donny van de Beek on their team.
The Dutch ace is about to complete a £ 40 million trade from Ajax this week, subject to passing a medical examination.
Van de Beek’s arrival on a five-year contract adds to the large number of midfielders at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s disposal at Old Trafford.
And it appears Solskjaer wants to cut that number by putting Lingard and Pereira up for sale, according to The Mail.
Both players were on the sidelines from Solskjaer’s team last season and the signing of van de Beek will do little for their chances of playing regularly.
Lingard enjoyed a brief resurgence at the end of last season when he scored the final goal of United’s national campaign before scoring again in the next game against LASK.
The 27-year-old has slipped down the order at United, although even a role in the front three is harder to come by after the appearance of Mason Greenwood.
Pereira, for his part, has been increasingly forced on the sidelines and Solskjaer has several players he considers ahead of the 24-year-old.

Van de Beek will already compete with Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Nemanja Matic, Fred and Scott McTominay in the center of the park, while Juan Mata is also ahead of Lingard and Pereira in the hierarchical order.
West Ham has expressed interest in signing Lingard previously, while the former England international is likely to attract suitors from abroad as well.

Meanwhile, Benfica is the main candidate for Pereira’s signature.
Solskjaer hopes to raise funds from the sale of both players to boost his transfer team as he looks to strengthen other areas of his team.
He’s interested in adding a central defender before the window closes, but faces a battle to persuade Red Bull Leipzig to part ways with main target Dayot Upamecano.
