A KNIFEMAN ran over two women and stabbed three men, leaving one with life-changing injuries in an alleged assassination attempt.
Armed police were deployed to the scene in Plymouth, Devon, and a man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after being found some 40 miles away.
Witnesses reported that numerous people were stabbed shortly after 10 p.m. near The Railway Inn pub.
Police confirmed that they witnessed a “serious incident” at the scene and found victims with serious injuries.
Three men were found with stab wounds, and one of them suffered life-threatening injuries.
Two pedestrians were also found to have been hit by a car.
All five people were taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment.
In a Facebook video, resident Winston Churchslope said he was displaying flashing blue lights as cops gathered outside the pub.
He said: “It seems there have been quite a few stabbings.
“Apparently the person who stabbed is still on the run. He has stabbed people and fled.
“Crazy fucking. This doesn’t happen in Plymouth.”
The images show part of the cordoned off road and numerous police vehicles still on the scene late into the night.
Witnesses also reported that a police helicopter flew over the area after the violence.
Another resident added: “I live on Albert Road and I drove home to find it closed, but he explained that he lived here.
“They told me to get in and lock the doors. Several police cars and emergency services, including a helicopter and armed police.”
Police said the suspect had fled the scene and police later raided an address in Beacon Park.
They did not find the suspect, but then police stopped a vehicle 40 miles away on the outskirts of Exeter and arrested a man.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
Police officers desperately urge anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
In a statement, Devon and Cornwall police said: “Police were called just after 10pm on Saturday night, following a serious incident near the Railway Inn on Albert Road in the Stoke area in Plymouth “.
“The suspect had fled the scene when police arrived.
“Follow-up investigations meant that armed offices went to an address in the Beacon Park area of Plymouth in an attempt to locate the suspect – he was not at the address.
“Further investigations and proactive policing led officers to stop a vehicle near Ide on the outskirts of Exeter in which they detained a man in his 50s.”
