A man is fighting for his life in hospital tonight after a double stabbing in North Manchester.
Police said he was in a “critical” condition.
A second man, who suffered stab wounds and later voluntarily went to hospital, was said to be in “serious condition”.
Armed police and emergency services were transferred to Church Lane in Moston at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Detectives said initial investigations have found that “a group of people had been involved in an altercation.”
A witness said he heard a car accident against another car before the fight broke out.
The resident reported that a man lying on the ground covered in blood had been stabbed “several” times, and what appeared to be an ax was nearby.

Both injured are in their 30s. They have not been named.

“Emergency services came and a man in his 30s was taken by ambulance to hospital, where he remains in critical condition,” GMP said in a statement.
“So far, investigations have established that a group of people was involved in an altercation.”
About 20 minutes later, shortly after 3 pm, police said officers received a report from a hospital that a second man “presented himself” with stab wounds.
“He also remains in a serious condition,” the force said.
“Officers are treating the two incidents as linked.”
Forensic investigators were photographed at the scene. There is a large police cordon.
There were initial reports of two arrests, but this has not been confirmed by Greater Manchester Police.
Detective Inspector Tony Platten said: “A man is currently in critical condition at the hospital and our detectives are working to establish the circumstances of what happened.
“Nearby residents will see an increased police presence in the area while investigations are carried out.
“Anyone with concerns can speak to our officers.
“This type of violent behavior will not be tolerated and we are asking anyone with information to come forward to find those responsible.”
The witness said: “I heard a car crash into another car. There were four in one car, two in another.
“Then I heard fights. I heard someone say ‘he’s been stabbed, he’s been stabbed’.
“I ran down and we saw him at the end of the road. The man was lying on the ground. He had been stabbed several times and was covered in blood.
“I get goose bumps trying to reproduce it in my head.
“There were people helping him. There were a lot of people helping. I saw this spike on the ground. It’s horrible.”
