A hotel receptionist was stabbed to death while working the night shift, eyewitnesses said.
The victim was found lying in a pool of blood near the reception and bar area of a Travelodge in Bournemouth, Dorset, early yesterday morning.
Hotel guest Paul Ford says he saw blood on the wall and a staff member called 999 while he was leaving for a smoke at 7:30 a.m.
It says the worker was pressing material onto the victim’s stomach to try to stop the bleeding.
Paul told the Sun: ‘I asked him if she was dead and he nodded, he was asking me to walk away, it looked like she had been stabbed in the stomach.
‘There was so much blood, all over the walls and all over the floor.
“One of my friends had gone to have a cigarette around one in the morning and had talked to her then. I was alone, covering the reception.
A 32-year-old man from the city has been arrested on suspicion of murder and the woman’s family has been informed of her death.
Dorset Police Detective Chief Inspector Jez Noyce said: ‘Our thoughts are with the woman’s family at this extremely difficult time.
We are conducting a full investigation into this matter and agents have been speaking with guests staying at the hotel.
“I’d also like to thank the hotel guests for their patience and understanding as we conduct on-site investigations.”
A Travelodge spokesperson said: “We are deeply saddened to learn that a woman has died at the Bournemouth Travelodge.
‘Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family and our priority at this time is to support the Police in their investigation.
“As this is a live police investigation, we cannot comment further at this time.”
