One person was rushed to hospital after an accident on the M25 near Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire.
Earlier this afternoon (Wednesday 11 November), Highways England closed the clockwise carriageway of the M25 between Junction 25 and Junction 27 after a multi-vehicle accident.
During the accident, a car reportedly rolled over and an air ambulance was called to the scene.
Now Essex police, who led the operation, have confirmed that they arrested a woman.
They also confirmed that one person was rushed to hospital after the accident.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “We were called in at around 2:20 PM on Wednesday 11 November with reports of a collision between Junctions 25 and 26.”
Both sides of the highway were closed between junctions 25 and 26, while emergency services responded
“A 34-year-old woman from London was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
“One person was taken to the hospital with injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.”
For a time, the carriageway was closed counterclockwise so that an air ambulance could land near the highway.
The East of England Ambulance Service has been approached for further comment.
There are still long delays in both directions as a result of the incident, and the road remains closed to motorists in a clockwise direction.
It is recommended that motorists avoid the road if possible or allow enough extra time for their journey.
