Lorraine Kelly was able to give an update on Derek, the husband of Kate Garraway, on Good Morning Britain today.
Derek was admitted to intensive care and has been on a ventilator for the past month after being diagnosed with coronavirus.
Wishing Kate a happy birthday today, she said, “As far as Derek is concerned, he is stable.
“It’s not getting worse, which is good. It’s in the best place.”
She added: “It has been very hard for them.

This comes after Ben Shephard gave Kate her best wishes and forced her to spend the day away from her critically ill husband.
The 45-year-old man thanked Kate as he replaced Piers Morgan on today’s ITV show.
He said, “I want to say happy birthday to Kate, who is turning 40-13 today.”
Susanna Reid added: “It doesn’t seem to be more than 25 days old.”
Ben joked, “No, after a lot of makeup.”

But he continued more grimly: “She’s with her family and keeps it cross, obviously, because Derek is still seriously ill, but we just want to say happy birthday, Kate, however you can celebrate today.”
“I’m sure Darcey and Billy have a cake or something, but we are sending a lot of love.”
Susanna added: “Yes, a great love for you and your family, of course.”

Ben replaced Piers today at GMB after the host was forced to withdraw from the show after showing some coronavirus symptoms.
Introducing the show today, Ben announced, “As you can see, I’m not Piers!”
“Yes, it’s therapeutic,” Susanna Reid joked, before reading Piers’ tweet last night.
He had written: “UPDATE: Out of medical advice, and out of precaution for a mild symptom that arose in the past 48 hours, I tested for COVID-19 and will not work on @GMB until I get the result back, which should be morning “.

Susanna added: “We send our best wishes and we will have our best behavior while he is not here.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Hilary Jones revealed that Piers had spoken to him last night and that the co-host did not have many symptoms that were atypical of coronavirus, but was being cautious.

Ben joked, “Do you just want a lie?”
“I think he just wants to clean his car,” Dr. Hilary commented dryly.
Susanna was forced to miss two weeks of GMB at the start of the lockout measures that were introduced in March, after her son had a cough.
He soon returned, and Piers increased his episodes to four per week and has promised to get the answers the public wants on COVID-19.
After posting the news on Twitter, Piers received a great response from his followers.
A fan tweeted: “I hope you are fine Piers. We need you!”
Another said, “I hope everything is fine, Piers, we need you.”
Others commented on the fact that Piers had been in the GMB study for weeks, so they were concerned if he should have been there.
But Piers had only started experiencing “mild symptoms” in the past 48 hours and was not on the show on Friday.
