This is the heartbreaking moment when a parent tries to stop a motorist passing a zebra crossing when four young children pass.

The furious Jason Payne stood in front of the Honda Seat to ensure his safety during the terrifying near-loss on Green Lane, Castle Bromwich.

The driver was said to have muttered something about being in pursuit before crossing the crossing before the family had crossed.

Police are investigating the scare, which occurred while doing their daily exercise on Monday night, May 4.

Payne, 34, was with his partner, Elizabeth Mears, their five-year-old daughter, Grace, and their three-year-old son, Ollie, and their two children, Preston and Mason, eight, aged ten.

Miss Mears said that the adults, with the children on their scooters, began to cross when the seat stopped behind the car in front.

Then he began to retreat, forcing Mr. Payne to jump to the front and hit the hood asking, “What are you doing?”

The driver, wearing a mask, was said to have apologized and said something about being in pursuit, but then left.

“My partner said,” Okay, please keep crossing the street. “

“But the driver kept accelerating. My partner hit the hood and said, ‘What are you doing? There are kids here.

“He was still going on. Apparently he was saying he was sorry and he looked at the back of his car and said something about a chase. Then the kids returned to the pavement and he left.”
