London Weather: Met Office snow warning for parts of London this morning

The Met Office has issued an urgent weather advisory for “briefly heavy” rain and snow covering parts of London.

The forecaster expects the flash flood to hit the east and south of the city in particular on Friday morning, December 4, to the point where travel may be affected.

The yellow weather advisory reads: “The snow can be briefly heavy in places, reducing visibility and creating slippery surfaces.”

The warning began at 4.51am on Friday and currently runs until 10am.

The worst affected districts include Havering, Redbridge, Greenwich, Bexley and Bromley.

Here the Met Office warns: “Heavy rain and snow leading to difficult trips due to surface water and possible accumulations of mud.”

  • Spray and surface water on roads that can prolong travel times

  • Bus and train services may be affected
