The busy subway station was completely closed tonight as a man was believed to be threatening members of the public. Videos from the scene show several police officers getting out of a police van and heading to the subway station.
Passengers traveling by subway were asked to leave the station while the incident unfolded.
A witness said: “Five or six policemen were fighting with the man while he was screaming.
“They were putting him in an ambulance. Surely, if they were doing it, it should be a police car.”
Another person at the scene said he saw a man as police were climbing the steps.
The station reopened around 6:15 p.m. and the man was taken away by an ambulance.
The incident is not believed to be related to terrorism, however it sparked fears as the UK terror threat was raised to “severe” earlier this week.
The security chiefs raised it from “substantial” to “severe.”
The move means officials believe an attack is highly likely, but there is no specific intelligence of an impending incident.
Home Secretary Priti Patel said the British people should be “alert but not alarmed”.
She added: “This is a precautionary measure after the horrible events of last week in France and last night in Austria and is not based on a specific threat.”
It comes after a shooting in Vienna on Monday night, where four people were killed.
There have also been several attacks in France in recent weeks.
