London crime: teenager shot outside Sudbury Hill station

A teenager was rushed to hospital after being shot outside a North West London tube station on Wednesday night.

The 19-year-old was shot outside the Sudbury Hill station in Harrow at 6.40pm.

One witness described hearing five shots while another claimed the sound was heard from two miles away.

The victim was found with gunshot wounds and taken to a local hospital. His condition is not known.

On Twitter, one user wrote: ‘Someone just got shot outside Sudbury Hill Station in Harrow. Shots rang out from as far away as Greenford.

Another said: ‘Possible shooting in Greenford. Heard five close shots at Sudbury Hill station. Ambulances at the scene.

No arrests have been made and detectives are pursuing the suspect.

Greenford Road is currently closed and trains do not stop at Sudbury Hill Station.

Images and videos posted on social media show several ambulances parked behind a large police cordon around the station.

The shooting comes days after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in broad daylight outside Northwick Park Station, which is just over two miles from Sudbury Hill.

Jamalie Maleek Deacon Matthew was found with stab wounds outside the station at around 3.50pm Thursday.

The teenager’s heartbroken family revealed he was an aspiring lawyer in a statement released Saturday.

They said: “ The whole family is deeply saddened and devastated by Jamalie’s passing.

“ We all knew of his ambition to study law, and accepting the tragedy that has unfolded still feels so surreal.

“We kindly ask the public to share any information about this incident.”

In addition to Jamalie’s tragic death, a 14-year-old boy was left fighting for his life, two others were stabbed and one person was shot in a violent 36 hours in the capital last weekend.

In response to the Sudbury Hill incident, Harrow Councilwoman Susan Hall tweeted: “More violence on our streets … this is when we’re locked in, dreading when we get out of it.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: ‘Police were called to Greenford Road, Harrow, at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday 18 November following reports that a man had been shot outside Sudbury Hill station.

Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service. A 19-year-old man has been taken to a West London hospital with gunshot wounds. Its status is unknown.

“No arrests have been made, but officers remain in the area and investigations continue.”
