Liverpool city council has confirmed that mass testing will continue in Liverpool once the ‘moonshot’ pilot has finished.
Although the details have yet to be worked out, the council is working to have some test centers in place after the pilot to continue testing once the army leaves the city.
It is believed that the testing centers will be available for asymptomatic people to undergo new lateral flow tests. More details will be released in the coming weeks.
The news comes after the massive test run in Liverpool was hailed as a success with, as of yesterday, 140,000 residents being tested.
Of the 140,000, around 700 citizens tested positive for coronavirus despite showing no symptoms.

The city also continues to fight to help those suffering from the coronavirus, as demonstrated by our exclusive look at the Royal Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
Liverpool Director of Public Health Matthew Ashton said: “This pandemic has been devastating for Liverpool.
“Almost a thousand people have died in our city and many more suffer health problems as a direct result of covid-19.
“The impacts on our health and care sector, on people’s mental health and well-being, on education, employment, employment and our economy are immeasurable.
