Any hope Liverpool had for a speculation-free transfer window appears to fade without a trace amid recent reports.
While the Reds can do some business to bring in a new defender, he’s looking out for his own stars, which could still turn out to be the biggest headache.
Georginio Wijnaldum’s future is already up in the air and his contract is no closer to being settled, and the Dutchman is free to speak with clubs from the beginning of next month.
Mohamed Salah has also made headlines this week following claims that he is unhappy with Liverpool, with Barcelona and Real Madrid hanging around.
With all of that in mind, here are the latest transfer rumors involving the Merseyside club.
Grealish to Anfield?
Liverpool insist they have not joined the race for Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.
The Reds were said to be monitoring the 25-year-old midfielder as a possible replacement for Salah should the Egyptian look elsewhere for a move.
A Mirror Soccer Villa Exclusive revealed that they are now preparing for the offers in January, but remain confident of keeping other clubs at bay.
However, Liverpool insist that there is no interest from them.
Origi-Kabak swap deal accelerates
Divock Origi appears to be approaching the starting gate after the forward removed any Liverpool signal from his Twitter account.
The Belgian has slipped further and further down the pecking order since his Champions League heroics and has been linked to a move to the Bundesliga.
Now Origi has added fuel to those rumors by changing her bio on the social media platform to simply: ‘Professional footballer’.
It was reported last week that Schalke would be willing to trade center-back Ozan Kabak for Origi, in a move that would likely be suitable for all parties.
The reds get closer to the star of the academy
Liverpool are reportedly set to sign Birmingham City youngster Calum Scanlon in a £ 500,000 deal.
According to The Times, both clubs agreed on that fee for the 15-year-old before his proposed change.
Scanlon can play on the left side of defense or in midfield and will join Liverpool’s academy in Kirkby.
