Trent Alexander-Arnold has targeted what appears to be a blatant dig in the Premier League after one of the most dramatic Merseyside derbies in history. Liverpool felt they had done enough to win the game, but came back through Stanley Park with a single point after a controversial end to proceedings.
Jordan Henderson thought he had scored a last-gasp win for his team before VAR official David Coote ruled Sadio Mane was offside.
It was the second controversial incident of the match, following Jordan Pickford’s terror challenge of Virgil van Dijk.
The Everton goalkeeper escaped a red card and Liverpool have since requested an investigation from the Premier League into the sentences for both incidents.
Following Saturday’s heated lunchtime clash, Alexander-Arnold turned to FIFA 21 to collect his thoughts and vent some frustration.
He posted a photo to his Instagram playing on his console, captioning the image: “VAR mode off.”
OUTSTANDING STORY: Liverpool landed a Premier League title hit as Virgil van Dijk required anterior cruciate ligament surgery
“It is disappointing that we did not get the victory. I thought the performance was very good and we deserved to win the game. I think Everton will be more happy with the draw.”
Meanwhile, Andy Robertson has revealed that the Liverpool team felt at halftime that Van Dijk was at the end of a terrible Pickford inning.
Liverpool have since confirmed that they will undergo knee surgery after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
“To be honest, I never saw him. I just saw Virg go down,” Robertson said.

“But the guys when they came into halftime said it was a shocking challenge, so it’s two of us who have finished us off.
“I can’t comment on whether Pickford was serious or not, I think he’s an honest kid and I don’t think he would have.
“But it doesn’t look good for Virg and I hope he comes back as quickly as he can, and I hope the scan might not show what the guys are thinking. ‘Losing a player like him is always tough, but for an incident like that, makes it a little bit more difficult.
“Look, that’s part of football, unfortunately. It’s part of derbies, it’s part of life. We will all figure it out, we will all support Virg during the time he is away, hopefully not long, as I said.”
