Liverpool gave Virgil van Dijk hope that the injury would return after FaceTime with the Netherlands coach

Frank de Boer expects Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk to be available for the Netherlands at Euro 2021 next summer.

The Netherlands will face Ukraine on June 13 in their first match of the tournament and head coach De Boer believes that Van Dijk could be available for his country as long as he does not suffer setbacks.

Van Dijk tore his ACL against Everton in October after a reckless challenge from goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and had to undergo surgery.

This week, the world-class central defender has been seen kicking a ball and performing recovery sessions at the NAS training complex in Dubai with AC Milan legend Clarence Seedorf.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp also explained Friday that Van Dijk was making “good progress” in his recovery, but there was still a long way to go.

Liverpool will not rush Van Dijk back into action, but will be hopeful that his recovery will continue at a healthy pace, so that they can consider him for selection towards the end of the season, with the Dutchman getting over his long-awaited dismissal by injury.

“He’s busy with so much energy,” the Netherlands coach told De Telegraaf via Sport Witness.
