Liverpool has changed its transfer plans for the coming year and beyond as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, with a focus on the next generation of young talent.
Before the far-reaching financial impact of the Covid-19 outbreak began to clarify, Liverpool were expected to pursue goals like RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner and Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar this summer.
The likes of Borussia Dortmund prodigy Jadon Sancho and Paris-Saint Germain star Kylian Mbappe have also been linked to the Reds, but manager Jurgen Klopp has said any move for such highly-skilled talents will have to wait.
Since the football season was suspended in March as the life-threatening coronavirus spread across Europe, the clubs have been experiencing a financial crisis with no day’s earnings or television money.
Liverpool are now facing the prospect of a budget deficit in the next 12 to 18 months due to the consequences of the pandemic, and will focus on looking in Europe for talented youngsters who can provide a bright future for the club.
