Liverpool have reached an agreement with Wolves for forward Diogo Jota, and the Portuguese star will move to Anfield for five years.

The 23-year-old is going to cost an initial fee of £ 41 million, which could increase to £ 45 million with additional payments and add-ons.

Initial reports suggested the move could be worth around £ 35 million, but the Lobos have secured more for one of their star players.

The Evening Standard reports that the Portugal international will sign a contract that will keep him at Liverpool until 2025 and must be confirmed as a Reds player this weekend.

After a quiet transfer window for the Premier League champions, who had only seen them sign Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos, Jurgen Klopp’s side jumped into action on Friday.

Thiago Alcantara was announced as a new arrival from Bayern Munich in a deal starting at £ 20 million and a move for Jota has now been confirmed.

The huge fee will be paid in installments, with only around £ 4 million to be paid over the next year.

Although it is a separate deal, Ki-Jana Hoever’s move in the opposite direction has facilitated Jota’s transfer.

The 18-year-old Dutchman will trade Anfield for Molineux for an initial amount of £ 9 million, with the possibility of the fee increasing by £ 4.5 million with add-ons.

Jota won’t be a Liverpool player in time to play at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea in the Premier League, but he could sign up in time for the trip to Lincoln in the EFL Cup on Thursday.

Although he will almost certainly act as a substitute for the three forwards of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, Jota will become the fourth most expensive signing in club history behind Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Naby Keita.
