One person died after being hit by a train between Abercynon and Merthyr Tydfil.

On Monday morning, Transport for Wales said a single line was blocked and outages were expected until 12pm.

The transport provider said trips to and from these stations can be canceled, delayed up to 90 minutes, or terminated and returned to Pontypridd.

At 10 a.m. it was confirmed that one person had died.

A notice on the Transport for Wales website reads: “A person has been hit by a train on the Taff Valley route.

“All trains to Merthyr Tydfil will end at Pontypridd or Abercynon.

“Replacement trucking services are transporting passengers between Abercynon and Merthyr Tydfil via Merthyr Vale in both directions until further notice.”

A bus transport service will operate between Abercynon and Merthyr Tydfil which will stop at all stations, and buses will follow the train schedule as closely as possible.
